Ed Brodzinsky said a welcome addition to an architect's library.. "Drawn to Design" is a fabulous book that is well organized, well written and well illustrated. I've only begun to delve into this fascinating work. It is a most welcome addition to my library. In recent years I've begun drawing and sketching again regularly in my sketchbooks as I once did years ago while in architectural school. It fosters understanding of the essential human ability to investigate the designed and natural world through freehand drawing.Among the 250 buildings and spaces drawn and analyzed are:Church on the Water, Tadao AndoSanta Maria della Salute, Baldassare LonghenaFrederick C. The conceptual goal of this approach is to use drawing not as illustration or depiction, but exploration. This book is especially timely in an age in which the false conflict between "traditional vs. The book is a guide for students and teachers to understand the need for, the role of and the methods and techniques of freehand analytical sketching in architecture.
