DESCRIPTION:
The text explores the design, analysis, and application of a wide variety of algorithms that can be used to manage dynamical systems with unknown parameters. Advanced students and researchers will find it a guide to the grasp of long and technical proofs. Topics include models for dynamic systems, stability, online parameter estimation, parameter identifiers, model reference adaptive control, adaptive pole placement control, and robust adaptive laws.Engineers and students interested in learning how to design, stimulate, and implement parameter estimators and adaptive control schemes will find that this treatment does not require a full understanding of the analytical and technical proofs. This volume will also serve graduate students who wish to examine the analysis of simple schemes and discover the steps involved in more complex proofs. This tutorial-style presentation of the fundamental techniques and algorithms in adaptive control is designed to meet the needs of a wide audience without sacrificing mathematical depth or rigor. Numerous examples demonstrating design procedures and the techniques of basic analysis enrich the text.
Robust Adaptive Control reduces the confusion and difficulty in understanding the design, analysis, and robustness of a wide class of adaptive control for continuous-time plants. To an outsider, however, the field of adaptive control may appear as a colloection of unrelated tricks and modifications. From the Publisher The area of adaptive control has grown to be one of the richest in terms of algorithms, design techniques, analytical tools, and modifications. Presented in a tutorial style, this book unifies, simplifies, and presents most of the existing techniques for designing and analyzing adaptive control systems.
Good Book for Learning Robust Concepts in Adaptive Control Systems in a Classroom Setting Raymond Woo A detailed work carefully prepared with a balanced approach emphasizing theory and applications underlying ideas of robustness in Adaptive Control Systems Theory. The author is a faculty member of the Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems at the University of Southern California. The book is voluminous, 821 pages, and has lots of worked problems as well as those for homework. Prerequisites are State Space methods in Systems Theory, Linear Control Theory, Optimal Control Theory, Probability and related Stochastic Processes and a good understanding of Math. "Cookbook of Adaptive Control" according to Chi-Chun Cheng. This is a must-have for an adaptive control pro.Despite this book exploits a lot of mathematics, it indeed provides various useful schemes in both theories and practices. Furthermore, the authors summarized almost every developed methodology in concise tables. For me, this is especially useful when solving a problem without suffering from the detailed proofs again. This is an essential reference and never collects dust in my bookshelf.. A Customer said Terrific!. This is one of the best references on Adaptive Control that I have come across. It has truly given me insight.
