'Powerboater's Guide to Electrical Systems' does a good job of starting you up the basic electrical learning This book is top notch for the advanced amateur electrical DIY boater. Even though it is a fairly thin book, it is densely packed with information about sussing out corrosion, leakage, RFI, and other issues--you name it. If you understand this book well, then your next step is onto the ABYC educational courses and obtaining an ABYC Marine Electrical Certification. That can make you money while you're cruising; boats always have electrical issues, from blatant and obvious, down to subtle but destructive leakage or RFI, and so on.If you are just starting out in marine electrical, Ed S. Mr BigEars said not useful. The books is well-written, but it has a lot of information that has no practical use.If you are looking to learn how to fix/install things, look elsewhere.
