Originally written as a serial in the San Francisco _Chronicle_, it is reminiscent of Dickens: short vignettes with sharply drawn characters, plenty of drama and tension (sexual and otherwis. Fantastic! I couldn't put this book down. It's fantastic! Funny yet serious at the same time. Can't wait to start reading "More Tales of the City". I highly recommend it.
