"A must buy!" according to micheal sinclair-smith. Once I started reading, “Breakfast the Night Before,” I could not put it downI have spent many years riding and hunting in Ireland in all the areas, Marjorie writes about. I understand the choice of words used in the countryside and the unbelievable everyday occurrences that happen.I have seen flimsy trailers pulled by even flimsier cars pulling two huge horses. I have seen horses arrive at a meet on a manure spreader and jump down go hunting for the day and jump back onto the spreade. Cool memoir of a time in the past, a horse crazy girl in Ireland and her horse selling family. Cool memoir of time in the past, a horse crazy girl in Ireland and her horse selling family. This is a quote from the girl's mother that is in the book which I particularly liked:"I love my child, I like my horse- but this is what is bad: The two together, night and day, I fear will drive me mad." Came quickly, and was in "good" condition.. Wonderful Memoir Sandy I am full of admiration for the author of this incredibly good book. Her wit and hard work kept the family farm going through decades of economic turmoil with laughter along the way I've never been to Ireland but this book made me want to go and have a look round and maybe peek in at a horse fair just to watch the action!

Marjorie Quarton gives a personal view of rural Irish life from the 1930s to the 1970s, describing the upbringing of a Protestant only child on a farm in north Tipperary. A lovely memoir for lovers of horses and of the farming life. Taking over on her father's death, working the land and animals (dogs, sheep, horses, cattle), she recounts with great humor and poignancy her dealings at fairs throughout the country, a lone woman in a man's world.
