DESCRIPTION:
This volume was produced in the same handy format as the Chapman Quick Reference Captain's Guide and Chapman Quick Reference First Aid Guide, spiral-bound at the top and with laminated pages. It contains information on which flags to fly, where and when to fly them, and what constitutes good flag etiquette. Nautical flags are more than decoration: each one has a specific meaning and a particular way it must be displayed. With Chapman's quick illustrated reference to the different kinds of flags and what they represent, no one need look like a know-nothing landlubber--or worse yet, cause a serious accident by using a signal flag
"Nice book" according to James D. Crabtree. This book may not be very thick but it does explain all those flags you seeing on boats, ships and shore facilities. As an added bonus it's waterproof so nothing is going to happen to it while you're out and about. Great reference!. "Waterproof pages" according to Lawrence Wegeman, Jr.. Waterproof pages enable use on board. All the alphabet and numeral flags are listed together with common use signals. The book was very reasonably priced, arrived promptly and I recommend to anyone that boats.. Perfect Gift for a Prospective Navy Man I have a 17 year old Grandson majoring in marine technology and his senior project is refurbishing a sailboat given to him by an old sailor (who I think is reliving his own love of the sea and former sailing days by watching his progress and enthusiasm). This handy guide seems to bridge the generation gap and I was so fortunate to locate it. Thanks
