Such experiences are often framed as child sexual abuse (CSA) within a discourse of child maltreatment. Not all those who experienced sexual activity as children view themselves as victims, believe that their experiences had a profoundly or irrevocably negative impact on their lives, or view their experiences as 'abusive'. Disturbing, compelling, and very worthwhile Sam Nicolas Childhood Sexual Experiences: Narratives of ResilienceThis book is a 'must read' for anyone with even the slightest interest in this difficult topic, whether they are layperson or health professional. Yes, it is harrowing in its descriptive narratives - even disturbing; however it is compelling in its treatment of the subject matter. It may well become the definitive text on a most important new approach to sexual abuse concerning children."Childhood Sexual Experiences: Narratives of Resilience". Great book This book provided fantastic insight for my psychology thesis paper. It gives many different perspectives on the emotional subject of childhood sexual abuse. It was very interesting to learn that not everyone who is sexually abused as a child is affected negatively for the rest of their lives; there is hope for those who have been traumatized in this way. I would definitely recommend this book for not only college research projects, but for personal reading as well.
The book would be useful as background reading for all practising clinicians, doctors, nurses, psychologists, psychosexual therapists, youth workers and social services' Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care . 'This important book offers the reader a novel understanding of childhood sexual abuse
