It's rather unique that it has designed and built only two aircraft, and both were successful. English Electric was formed in late 1918 by the consolidation of several firms that made electrical equipment and items as diverse as locomotives. This work records the Phoenix and COW designs and other related types. It then goes on to examine those aircraft bearing the English Electric designation, which began with the Wren in 1923 and continued with the Canberra and the Lightning.
