A very good book This book was as well researched and written and enjoyable to read. This book is on par with the author's other books in my opinion.. Excellent book on railroading SlapF16 The book is daunting at first glance at nearly 500 pages, but it is a fantastic read. Board room struggles, engineering feats, capitalism at its finest - it was the L&N and it is captured in this book. I truly enjoyed it

The story of the L&N is a great one, and Klein has written a definitive corporate and financial history of the railroad.Klein's vivid account of this period in the L & N's history will be very informative to those who wonder why America's railroads are what they are today."Journal of Southern History"Although the L&N
