Having lived in Jamaica all my life, except for a short time away for my job in 1980, I can definitely relate to and remember what it was like in Jamaica in the '70s and '80s. I agree with Niamh's simple explanations of that very complex and terrible time in our history. I remember going into a supermarket in early 1980, where the shelves were mostly bar.
