Need a Basic Text on SB Chevy Rebuilding? This is it. Hib Halverson Originally published in 1996, How to Rebuild the Small-Block Chevrolet, sold about 100,000 copies to become a reasonably good selling title about overhauling the world's most popular V8 engine. This second edition, published in 2004, is refined mostly through a significant upgrade of all photos and an increase in paper quality. This work is intended for the beginning Small-Block Chevy do-it-yourselfer confronted. Flyboy said Use as a supplement. This is an okay book. Although I'm not sure you could actually rebuild an engine with it. In most every instance they recommend you take it to a machinist. They have little information on wear tolerances. Nor do they have any background history of these engines. I say they , since it seems the only way you can get a book published these days is to use half of it to advertise the financiers of your book. Most of. Very good "how-to" Ken S. I previewed this book in the library and wanted a copy for my own. It is a real good book with plenty of pictures and explanations showing you where to start, what to look for and then what to do prior to assembly. What you save in doing some or all of the labor and asking the right questions of your machine shop will more than pay for this book that's a keeper.
