DESCRIPTION:
Many of these design methods make use of digital media and computer algorithms. Inspiration provides a comprehensive overview of new design methods and techniques that are emerging in the field of architecture. Some already existed for a long time, but are reinvented in new ways, like design by folding paper materials. These new methodologies have changed the way architects and students design. The book showcases hundreds of examples, models, sketches, and renderings of architectural designs within dozens of different methodologies, including:Designing with basic elements (lines, circles, squares, planes, dots)Pattern development (texture, axes, grids, symmetry)Spacial patterns (structure, matrix, modules)Typography as a design tool (psychological phenomena, composition theory, color design)Nonspatial and spatial transformations (figure ground relations, additive spatial design, spatial effects)Basic spatial design, complex spatial design, and parametric design

nic said An Inspiring Book!. This is an inspiring book full of so many beautiful design explorations that are imbued with spatial, architectural opportunities. The authors lead us from two to three-dimensional studies in a clear path, all of which provides the basis for an architectural education that can serve as a foundation for all design students. As an instructor of both drawing and design studio classes at an architecture university, this book has helped me re-formulate certain aspects of the work the students are assigned and the results have been astounding. Implementing a number of these iterative processes . "Great Exploration of Foundation Work and Process" according to C. Bowen. I am a foundation design coordinator for a large Architecture and Industrial Design Program. We are always seeking new ways of bringing foundation design education into the studios. I was able to review an early copy of this book and felt it deserved a good review on Amazon. The book goes through a series of abstract iterations in design control and exploration. Each chapter and section is prefaced with a well translated (from German) description of how the exercise exploration connects with the practice of Architecture. The book layers itself appropriately tying all of the projects toge
