DESCRIPTION:
"Great book about Angels Flight in Los Angeles California" according to Susan M. Duarte. I really didn't know much about the Angels Flght. Especially all the details behind all of it.. killer b said How could they?. What does Steam Punk, unicorns, and Angels Flight have in common? Probably everything. This is the type of place that you miss when you were never there; you miss it like a dream that escaped recall. How could they destroy a magical corner, a place of quaintness that reached to the stars? Too soon gone, at least we have this book to help chart the way back to something ripped away from us by clods.. Reader said Fantastic view of classic Los Angeles. This book is absolutely terrific. It has great photos of Los Angeles in its early and "noir" years, around Angels Flight. A real find. I love this whole series.

When the city turned Bunker Hill into an acropolis of skyscrapers, Angels Flight was packed up like a boy’s electric train set and stored away for nearly 30 years. From 1901 to 1969, Angels Flight was America’s most famous incline railway, familiar from its many appearances on postcards and in pulp fiction and film noir. It inspired the titles of five novels, including a 1999 best seller, and three films. After a restoration in the mid-1990s that led to a fatal accident, Angels Flight has reopened and is now ready to claim its next chapters in Los Angeles history.. Angels Flight’s two colorful trolleys glided up and down the side of Bunker Hill in the heart of Los Angeles, carrying 100 million passengers between a downtown business district and a Victorian aerie that gradually deteriorated into a gritty slum
