DESCRIPTION:
This timely and fundamental book will be welcomed by every communication engineer." Professor Venkat Anantharam, University of California, Berkeley . In this book one has on offer a clear and comprehensive exposition by the pioneering researcher in the field. "The topic of multiuser detection lies at the heart of modern terrestrial and satellite-based wireless communication systems
The development of multiuser detection techniques is one of the most important recent advances in communications technology, and this self-contained book gives a comprehensive coverage of the design and analysis of receivers for multiaccess channels, while focusing on fundamental models and algorithms. The extensive set of references and bibliographical notes offer a comprehensive account of the state of the art in the subject. Multiuser detection deals with demodulation of the mutually interfering digital streams of information that occur in areas such as wireless communications, high-speed data transmission, satellite communication, digital television, and magnetic recording. The elements of multiuser detection are clearly and systematically presented along with more advanced recent results, some of which are published here for the first time. The author begins with a review of multiaccess communications, dealing in particular with code division multiple access (CDMA) channels. Background material on hypothesis testing and the e
"A very good reference for self study of CDMA" according to Igal Sason. I have used this book for self study of the topics of multiuser detection and CDMA. The book is written very clearly and the level of math is quiet resonable. One of the advantages of this book stems from the fact that it includes a lot of problems, which part of them are solved in the home page of the author (although there is no responsibility for the solutions, as these problems were solved by some students of the author, I found the quality of the solutions very good).. A Customer said a grad student's view. This book has all the relevant information on multiuser detection, but is really hard to read .its difficult to get past the math and get a clear understanding of the concepts.A little more discussion would have helped on some of the topics where the author relies purely on complex math to get his point across.Absolutely not for people just trying to read through and get a fundamental grasp of concepts. However the exercises at the end of each chapter are really challenging . "excellent book for CDMA communication!" according to Julius Kusuma. i have found this book to be well-written, and is an excellent book for readers interested in CDMA and wireless communications in general at all levels. Sergio Verdu has an excellent writing style, recently demonstrated in his award-winning information theory paper, and this book really shines. the only complaint is that sometimes the reference to previous equation is difficult to follow, which is a common problem with technical textbooks.
