DESCRIPTION:
Its headquarters and operations, centered in Baltimore, provided years of economic growth for the port city. Take a step back in time and revisit the sites, stations, and trains of the B&O that were once part of everyday life in Maryland and remember the glory of a bygone era.. This book contains images of well-known stations in Maryland, including Ellicott City Station, Gaithersburg Station, Camden Station, and the Mount Clare Shopsa self-contained industrial city, now home to the B&O Railroad Museum. The B&O’s creation was a tangible symbol of the Industrial Revolution, representing commerce and progress to towns along its route. Some stations still exist and are home to small museums or restaurants; others no longer stand, but images of them will remind even the casual historian of a time when railroads were a part of everyday life in America. Incorporated in 1827, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O) was one of America’s first railroads, and Maryland was its heart and soul

Fantastic book! Really captures the magic of the railroad era. Obi Wan This entire series of books is great. but this one in particular is superb! The joy of these books is seeing things you are familiar with (Usually buildings) in photos from another era. This one focuses on trains that aren't around anymore. So that doesn't work as well. These are all photos from another era of things that have long since disappeared completely. There are a few structures from the B&O . Great wealth of information Kindle Customer I am a n scale modeler and found this book to be very useful for the area I am modeling. Not mention the history of the railroad in the Maryland area.. Bookworm said Five Stars. Up to the usual high standard of the publishers Bookworm.
