DESCRIPTION:
Gain a clear understanding of the important aspects that are essential for safe and successful aerobatic glider flying. For use in conjunction with aerobatic instruction, this volume deals with safety considerations, flight envelopes, and glider design. Describes in general terms how to fly commonly encountered maneuvers, from standard level aerobatics to advanced flying. Includes a step-by-step guide to construction flight envelopes for various gliders.
A welcome addition to aerobatic literature There are more than a few books on powered aerobatics, but - to the best of my knowledge - this is one of only two dealing with the specialized subject of saiplane aerobatics. Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs and helpful diagrams, the book is an excellent and thorough introduction to the sport. My only criticism is the absence of any commentary on the only two aerobatic gliders in current production, namely the SZD-59 Acro and the DG 303 Elan Acro.. Good info at a good price This is a British book, so sometimes the vocabulary has a few minor "issues," but for anyone with any interest in aerobatics it's quite clear.I found the book to be informative and useful. I just did a short aerobatic course in England and my instructor was the proofreader for this book.As you read the book, try to visualize the control inputs and the aircraft's attitude; it will help you.I am comfortable recommending this book and/or Les Horvath's book from the SSA. There are other aerobatic books, but very little that focusses on gliders. We hav. Every soaring glider pilot should read this book david One mistake whilst flying can ruin your whole day (and life!). Once you have read all the basic literature for going solo and then some advanced soaring to stay up there (I like Ken Simpsons Soaring Pilots book for that stage) you should then read this book. The bulk of the book (pages 35-140) is detail about all the aerobatic manueveres, if you really want to formally go and do aerobatics.I was never really into aerobatics but I still found the first part of the book on glider construction, their strengths and weakness and how the never exceed sp
