I find that subtitle a little misleading as it should more accurately be The Engineering of Sir Barnes Wallis. In any case the focus is on the trajectory of Wallis' engineering work from his first days in airship design to his last ideas for supersonic transport. The large f. "An under-appreciated man" according to Floyd T. Sir Barnes' work (the Wellington bomber, and the Bouncing, Tallboy, Grandslam bombs) had a major effects during World War II.
