DESCRIPTION:
Sensitive and thoughtful life review As a therapist myself, I very much appreciated the difficult task Dr. Treadway embarked uponthat of getting to know his family of origin. It is interesting to see him pass through many steps before he is able to work through his defense mechanisms and uncover the wounds of his childhood which vitally impact his life in the here & now. The author is brutually honest in his self-assessment and shows the reader his most vulernable self. Helpful and interesting reading for all of us willing to travel the most difficult of all roadsthe family system.. A review of a former mentor's book I studied with David Treadway for 3 years. He knew:"therapist heal thyself."Having watched him and talked to him for 3 years, I knew many of the issues that haunted him.He did an excellent job writing about his psychological pain.I wonder if a therapist who has not had to confront these issues, could understand the psychological pain.I also used to sit and wonder hom much of some of the similaritiesof my issues he understood.
Now there is a black hole hardening into a permanent emptiness. From Publishers Weekly Almost a quarter of a century after his mother's suicide, and when he himself is 40-something, Treadway, who was born into a prominent New England hotel family, finds his own life unraveling. He seeks help from another therapist, as well as asking his father, siblings, aunts and uncles for written memories of the past. This is an encouraging demonstration of how a psychological search into the past reopens and begins to heal old wounds. The tragic event of his mother's death had seemed scarcely to affect him as a young man. Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc. Except for an overly artful alte
