"A lesson in life and education" according to Amazon Customer. I met Jeremy Adams in college at W&L, and he grew to be a close friend. As long as I've known him, he has thought about the big issues (or as I see he would probably prefer I say, asked the big questions). I could say many superlative things about him, but I'll focus on the book.I think a lot of us are looking for meaning and our purpose in life. That an "ordinary" person (in quotation marks because I think Jeremy is an extraordinary person who may be found in the guise of a seemingly ordinary life) can write compellingly about that quest is wonderful. This book shows that Jeremy has found his calling, and I have no doubt he is a wond. "Honest and Daring" according to E. M. Jenkins. This book is a must read for both new and seasoned teachers, as well as parents, or those simply interested in education. The insights are meaningful, the prose is pristine, and the memoir aspect is moving and inspirational. A fantastic first book.. Inspiring, moving and entertaining. Andrew I got so caught up in this book so quickly - every time I tried put it down I wanted to read just a little bit more. The author's mix of personal narrative about his life, his conclusions and realizations about education, his thoughts on living a life of purpose and virtue, what it means to be a parent and a teacher all gave the book a wonderful sense of flow. It was always moving someplace interesting and captivating. On top of that his passion not only for teaching and education but for life itself was contagious. At any age or at any milestone in life there should be something you can take away from this book.
