Tips to pass the Mechanical Engineering PE Exam I passed the October 2015 Mechanical Engineering PE exam (I chose to take the Mechanical Systems and Materials in the afternoon), and I would like to share with you how I prepared for the exam. Johnny Nguyen said Focused Review of What you Need to Know. I passed the April "Focused Review of What you Need to Know" according to Johnny Nguyen. I passed the April 2016 exam using largely a combination of this book and, of course, the MERM (mechanical engineering reference manual). The MERM has a ton of information that you should go through, but largely will not be on the exam. Most of the practice questions that I could find were for the Fluid Systems ME Exam, and I desperately needed something that could quickly review all the concepts in Mechanical Systems and Materials. This book was very instrumental in helping me pass the PE the first time out.
