This book is a real gem." -Philip Deal, Author of OHM: A Novel of Resistance and Love In An Iron Bowl "David Rawlings, using his nom de guerre Officer Peckerwood, tells a story that any cop will know is the real thing. Been There Done That William A. Mcelhiney I am a retired KCMO PD Officer (1971-1996) who worked Metro, South, and East Patrol Divisions and assignments in the Administration Bureau. The book is a good read and took me back to my days as a Patrol Officer. It contains no surprises to any veteran officer of any large Police Department. In fact, I believe Dave sanitized some events to protect civilian readers from what Patrol Officers have to endure on a shift, much boredom, too much paperwork, interrupted by an occasional rush of adrenaline or hair raising fear. I can remember talking with shift members abo. J. Broadway said Telling it like it is.. Loved this book the whole thing cracked me up. My son is a police officer and I was a military police officer. You have to have humor to get through a day as a cop. I am sure some people will not like this book but they are the type who do not like cops. Too bad this book tells it like it is on the street. I am going to buy a hard copy to send to my son.. A great read This was a very interesting read. Having been on the police department across the river in Kansas City, Kansas, I could relate to a lot of what he wrote about. Done with humor, this story nevertheless shows to non-police and police alike the varied, and often very rewarding, career police work really is. I loved it.
